Sometimes you have moments where you just have to pinch yourself. When LEGO asked for the girls to take part in a campaign idea they had for International Women’s Day 2021, it was one such moment. LEGO is a household name and has been for generations. They have been helping children and adults alike explore and push the constraints of their imagination for years. Although I am rubbish at building anything 4 dimensional, I still have fond memories of trying to build with LEGO as a child.
LEGO’s International Women’s Day 2021 campaign went live today and it celebrates the next generation of amazing women, our girls! As you may know, I have two girls. The sun shines from every inch of their being. They are my world. As much as I want them to know there is more to me as a woman than being their mother, that you can be as multi-faceted as you want to be; I also want them to know that they are the two most important people in my life!

The girls were asked to recreate the classic 1981 What it is, is Beautiful poster. Their LEGO skills weren’t quite on par with the gorgeous girl from the original poster. That being said, it was beautiful to watch both of my children sat cross-legged on the floor, their tongues sticking out from concentration as they built their creations.

Whilst the messages on the poster may have changed, the energy and personality exuding from the children is still the same. These girls will go on to run companies, create families, save lives, invent, excel, innovate, in ways that us as parents or family members cannot even begin to imagine yet. As naff as this might sound, our children, regardless of their gender, are our future and it’s only by encouraging them and giving them the tools they need that they will be able to live to their fullest potentials!
If you’re interested in creating your own poster you can head over to the FutureBuilders page on the LEGO website

This isn’t an #AD, I was just so excited to share the content that I’ve blogged about it anyway – so maybe I should declare it as an #AD as the Instagram campaign from which it came, was? Who knows – either way – I’m writing and sharing this purely because I am SOOOOOO excited for the girls to have been part of this particular campaign!!
