Who would have thought that creating a directory of Black Influencers in the UK would have presented me with so many amazing opportunities? I certainly hadn’t expected it to have had the reach that it did, being featured online, tweeted and shared on hundreds of Instagram accounts. But it did, and I’m eternally grateful. One of the wonderful opportunities that was a direct result of the UK Black Influencers Directory, was being featured on an Instagram Live with Mariam Bashorun, founder of Black British Bloggers.

In an interview, which lasted around an hour, we spoke about my previous blog Circus Mums and why I chose to break away from it and start afresh on here, TinukeBernard.com. We discussed the reasons why the UK Black Influencers Directory came about and why it blew up in the way that it did. (the page reached tens of thousands of viewers in the first day of publication!) The role Black Lives Matter and Black Out Tuesday had to play with the virality of shares and subsequent page views it created.

We both responded to questions from those watching the Instagram Live. Everything from if we thought the interest in Black influencers would last to how to work out your engagement rates on your own Instagram posts.
